Course Description   

Every dentist will encounter impacted canines but not every case needs to become a nightmare.  This lecture will explore how to recognize patients at risk, determine when intervention is necessary, choose the appropriate treatment approach, and manage complex canine cases using efficient, evidence-based mechanics.

Course Objectives

1. Recognize the clinical and radiographic findings associated with ectopic and impacted canines.
2. Identify patients who may benefit from interceptive treatment and determine the optimal timing for intervention.
3. Develop evidence-based treatment plans based on canine position, patient age, and overall malocculsion.
4. Recognize common complications and implement strategies to improve outcomes.

About Dr Kairouz

Dr. Kairouz is an orthodontist who obtained her dental degree from Russia and the University of Michigan. After completing her studies, she relocated to Seattle and enrolled in the orthodontic program at the University of Washington. During her residency, Dr. Kairouz had the opportunity to work with exceptional mentors and engage in research that focused on an early surgical treatment for Class 2 patients. She brings a diverse range of experience from working in both community-based clinics and private practice environments. 

In her free time, Dr. Kairouz enjoys discovering the beauty of Washington’s outdoors through hiking and relaxing at home with her cat, “Cavity.”
