Course Description

This presentation will focus on the important link between systemic diseases and periodontal diseases.  Major connections exist including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, pregnancy and now a connection to Alzheimer's is being discovered.  Recognizing these diseases should be considered in any dental treatment.  Factoring the whole patient medical history can significantly affect your long-term successful treatment.  Examples from the past 25 years will illustrate how careful planning can lead to predictable outcomes and happy patients.

Course Objectives

1. Understanding the connection between systemic diseases and periodontal diseases.

2. Understanding how a systemic disease can affect the outcome of dental care.

3. Understanding how a periodontal susceptibility will predict the outcome of complex implant supported prosthesis.

4. Understanding how inflammation is the common factor in many diseases.

5.  Understanding how careful planning for complex cases will lead to better outcomes.

Don't miss this chance to connect with your fellow dentists and contribute to the future of our profession.
