Course Description:
To explain, from the perspective of the anesthesia provider, what considerations are most relevant in determining patient safety and risk stratification for patients receiving moderate IV sedation, deep sedation or general anesthesia.

Course Objectives:
1. To have any dentist (generalist or specialist) without a sedation permit understand what criteria anesthesia providers are looking at.
2. To have any dentist (generalist or specialist) with their own sedation permit understand when it might be more appropriate for a patient to have a separate anesthesia provider delivering care.
3. To have dentists and anesthesia providers understand the criteria used to determine whether to treat in-office versus in hospital versus a patient not being a candidate for anesthesia for any elective procedure.
